Choosing the Right Hairstyle for Your Face Shape

Feb 08, 2023

The Best Hair Style for Your Face Shape

Are you looking to switch up your hairstyle? Do you see someone else’s style and wonder if it would look just as good on you? One of the best ways to determine what type of hairstyles will be flattering on you is by knowing your face shape. You’re always allowed to break the rules, but it’s about choosing a style that will accentuate your features.

Oval

While this type of face shape looks good with a variety of styles, the most flattering ones are with longer layers, shoulder-length waves, and full fringe.

Square

Since square face shapes tend to have a strong jawline, the ideal hairstyle will soften those edges. A wavy shag, side-swept bangs, and long layers with fringe are just a few styles that look great on someone with a square face shape.

Round

One of the best ways to accentuate a round face is by choosing a style that will elongate it. For instance, long voluminous waves, swoopy bangs, and long and shaggy bobs are some styles that can help to lengthen the face.

Heart

Adding bangs to wavey layers or a chin-length bob is the perfect way to balance out a longer forehead. In order to create the illusion of less width at the top of the head, choose a style where the bangs are narrower.

Oblong/Rectangle

Similar to square faces, it’s important to choose a style that will soften the edges. Adding layers, volume, side-swept bangs, or feathered fringe will help to create a balance with the strong jawline.

Diamond

Choosing a hairstyle that’s short and cropped or long with face-framing layers will accentuate the high cheekbones.

Drop the towel Keeping wet strands wrapped in a towel for a half-hour as you do your makeup will just cause frizz! Give your locks a burst of cold Before you hop out of the shower, turn the cold water on for a second and quickly rinse it through your strands. It helps seal the cuticle, adding a sleek finish to your locks. Do an at-home glaze between color appointments Glazes fill holes and rough spots in your hair cuticles, helping smooth your locks and put moisture back into your hair. Find a shampoo that lathers less Sudsy doesn’t necessarily mean clean—sometimes, it means the opposite. Shampoos that lather too much are often overloaded with moisturizing products, which can leave build-up in your hair, making it look and feel dirtier quicker.
