Hair loss is not something that anyone enjoys. We find it embarrassing and look for ways to cover it up. We may wear hats, buy wigs, or even shave off our hair completely. We all deal with hair loss differently. There are both non-medical and medical treatment options. They include:

• Minoxidil: This is the medicinal name for over-the-counter Rogaine products. It is available in liquid, foam, and shampoo options. It is useful for both men and women.

• Finasteride: This is known as Propecia. It is a prescription treatment for men. It is a daily pill, but it can take several months to improve your condition.

• Hair Transplant: This is a permanent hair loss solution. This is done by a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. It is a painful procedure, so patients are given a sedative to ease their discomfort. It does not require hospitalization.

• Laser Therapy: This is a hair loss treatment option for hereditary hair loss in both men and women. It is FDA-approved but more studies are needed for long-term effects.

• Wigs: This is the most affordable option for covering up your hair loss. It is not much of a solution because it does not address the underlying condition, but it covers it up.
